Favourite Office Plant 2019 has been announced as Philodendron xanadu.
The judges present were Matthew Appleby of Horticulture Week, Claudia de Yong, award-winning garden designer and Chanel de Kock of the Flower Council of Holland. Accompanied by a remote panel of judges, they all felt that Philodendron xanadu fulfilled the criteria of a retro revival with its lush, leafy form much as last year’s winner the Monstera deliciosa. They also agreed that it works well on its own or as under-planting.
Voting secured the top spot for the Philodendron by 5 votes to 3 with the Epiphyllum anguliger as runner up and the Alocasia macrorrhizos in third place.
Our thanks go to Ian Drummond, plants@work ambassador and Creative Director at Indoor Garden Design for hosting the judging and being on hand to fill in any necessary background information about the plants.
