| "Me
and My Job"
Ian Drummond, creative director, Indoor Garden Design,
London.
What is your typical day?
I have no set working hours but generally start in the office
at around 8.30am to check my e-mails and messages. There are no
two days the same but always lots of meetings. These are either
with staff, clients or architects and designers working on planting
and display schemes. Even though I live close to the office I
quite often don’t get home until 9.00pm.
What takes up most of your day?
Working on design schemes and providing quotations for existing
and new clients.
Do you get out of the office enough?
Yes. I’m out of the office most days overseeing installations,
meeting clients or working with architects on various new schemes.
This takes up a very large part of my day.
What is the best part of your day?
Anything to do with design; I crave creativity! This is closely
followed by the social side; I love dealing with people.
And the worst?
Technology - I hate it!

What
piece of kit can’t you do without?
My mobile phone and note book. More important, though, is the
assistance and support of the staff around me.
How do you wind down after a days work?
I do find it difficult to switch off at times but try to live
life and enjoy London to the full.
What does the future hold?
The future is very exciting. We are about to launch our new services
to Indoor Garden Design; ‘In Bloom’ our creative flowering
plant service and ‘Outdoors’ exterior landscaping
from design concept through to installation and maintenance. I
have also recently joined the committee for eFIG (The European
Federation of Interior Landscaping Groups) which is a challenge
I am very much looking forward to.
